Tulips for a Cause

A first sign of spring. This nice yellow tulips was brought home by my husband last Wednesday. The company he's now working in signed up for the "Company’s Workplace Tulip Champion", in support of the 2009 Annual Tulip Day Campaign.

Tulips are sold at various locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Bunches of five fresh cut tulips sell for $6 and pots of six tulip bulbs sell for $8.

Proceeds from Tulip Day will help The Lung Association www.on.lung.ca make a difference by providing resources, support and vital funds for research in lung disease.

In addition to this there's a second one I think, bringing tulips home for your wife is another good cause, not just for a healthy lung also for a happy heart.

My first winter storm in Toronto ...

It's really winter season here. Today would be my first winter storm experience here in Toronto ... and to the next to come I'll have no choice but to welcome it every year.

It may have started at around 6:30 to 7am. At noon I take pictures outside and snow must have been around 9cm high on grounds. It's snow and blowing snow outside. It's still a blessing having no work right now, I'm in the confinements of my home and don't need to battle outside. Temperature by now is around -10°C. Weather forecast says it may continue until Saturday to Sunday. It's a major shovelling time for my husband. Happy he didn't share the work for me. If this continues we would be having a white Christmas for this year.

To everyone just be safe and drive carefully!

Toronto Santa Claus Parade

My first time to ride a TTC bus and subway was during the Toronto Santa Claus Parade, last Sunday November 16. Me and my husband wanted a better view of the event and with our friend's advice we waited for the parade on Bathurst. Despite the weather forecast of flurry there is still a thick crowd along the routes of the parade. Streets are jam packed with kids and kids at heart anticipating Santa.

The Parade Route:
The Santa Claus Parade starts at the corner of Bloor Street and Christie Street and runs east along Bloor Street to Avenue Road, along Avenue Road, around Queen's Park Crescent, and further south along University Avenue to Queen Street. At Queen Street the Parade heads east to Yonge Street, south along Yonge Street and east along Front Street. The Parade ends at the corner of Front and Church Streets.

One of my favorites, the theme float of Yahoo Canada.
The Philippine Heritage Band also participated in the event.
